A Private Château Driven by a Contemporary Vision of Heritage
Château de Beaugency, also known as the Château de Lumières, is a privately owned site led since 2020 by two architects passionate about heritage, creativity, and cultural transmission: Anne-Sophie Acomat and Jérémie Bellot.
“Our ambition, when taking over this exceptional historic monument in the heart of the Loire Valley, was clear: to bring this heritage site back to life in a different way — giving it a vibrant, accessible, and meaningful place within our contemporary world.”
A Meeting Point Between Heritage and Digital Creation
As trained architects, we have always shared a deep sensitivity toward historic places – their memory, their architecture, and their ability to tell the story of territories and the people who shaped them.
Very early on, we wanted to develop a different approach to heritage at the Château de Beaugency: an immersive, artistic, and emotional approach capable of reaching all audiences, including those who do not usually visit historic monuments.
This vision gave birth to the Château de Lumières: a place where history enters into dialogue with contemporary digital art.
Bringing Heritage Into the Light
The Château de Beaugency is much more than an immersive exhibition.
Our project also aims to tell the story of the Loire Valley region, the château itself, its notable historical figures, and the entire fortified heritage area of Beaugency, including:
- the château known as Dunois Castle,
- the César Tower – the medieval keep,
- the Notre-Dame Abbey Church of Beaugency,
- and the many surrounding historic remains.
Our goal is to place heritage back at the heart of the visitor experience while also challenging some of the traditional codes and preconceptions often associated with historic monuments.
“An immersive, artistic, and emotional approach”
A Living Heritage Open to Everyone
Our approach stands at the crossroads of several ambitions: to pass on knowledge, inspire wonder, raise awareness, make culture more accessible, support contemporary creation, and contribute to heritage preservation through the visits and activities offered on site.
The Château de Beaugency is above all a place for sharing, experimentation, and dialogue between history, art, and innovation.
Our deepest wish is that every visitor may discover a new perspective on heritage… and feel the desire to return.
“The Château de Beaugency is above all a place for sharing, experimentation, and dialogue between history, art, and innovation.”
