Accessibility & Welcoming All Audiences

At the Château de Beaugency, we do our very best — with sincerity, care, and commitment. A Heritage Site Open to Everyone, Within the Limits of the Historic Monument

Château de Beaugency is above all a place for sharing, discovery, and emotion.

We are delighted to welcome visitors with all types of disabilities, and we are committed to doing everything possible, every day, to make the visit as accessible and enjoyable as we can, while respecting the unique character of this historic monument.

Fully aware of the structural limitations of a medieval and Renaissance château, we choose transparency, personal assistance, and continuous improvement as the foundations of our accessibility approach.

Visitors with Reduced Mobility (PRM)

In the building’s current configuration, only part of the château is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, and access requires assistance from our staff.

The accessible ground-floor areas include:

  • the château courtyard,
  • the Guards’ Hall,
  • the café,
  • and the restrooms.

The upper floors are unfortunately not accessible to wheelchair users due to the historic nature of the monument and the presence of numerous staircases.

Assistance During Your Visit

Our team remains available throughout your visit to assist and guide visitors with specific accessibility needs.

Several facilities have also been implemented to improve visitor comfort:

  • luminous and phosphorescent strips on staircases to improve step visibility,
  • video content with sound and subtitles,
  • seating areas available in different parts of the site.

And Tomorrow? An Ongoing Commitment

We know there is still much to be done.

That is why we are actively reflecting on new initiatives for the years ahead, including ways to:

  • improve accessibility for visually impaired visitors,
  • provide adapted content for visitors with hearing impairments,
  • develop a virtual visit experience so the château can also be discovered remotely and through alternative formats.

These projects require time, resources, and careful consideration, but they are fully part of our long-term vision for Château de Beaugency.

A Humble and Evolving Approach

Welcoming all audiences within a historic monument is an ongoing challenge.

We move forward step by step, with humility, attentiveness, and commitment, convinced that accessibility is a continuous journey rather than a fixed achievement.

Please do not hesitate to contact our team before your visit – we will always do our very best to welcome you in the best possible conditions at Château de Beaugency.
